Challenge

Samsung faced a unique technical challenge: creating a space that could seamlessly transform from retail showroom to cinema, conference venue to gaming arena, all whilst maintaining pristine image quality across every display. The brief was uncompromising—true 4K 60fps 4:4:4 HDR10+ content distribution with near-zero latency across multiple zones, anchored by a world-first 10-metre-wide vertically curved LED wall.

Traditional AV matrix switching would have been inflexible and cost-prohibitive at this scale. Samsung needed a solution that could grow with future demands, support any source to any display routing instantly, and deliver the exceptional image quality their brand demands—all without the complexity that typically accompanies enterprise-grade installations.

Solution

Working with systems integrator Snelling Business Systems, Samsung deployed ZeeVee’s Zyper4K encoders and decoders across a dedicated 10Gb fibre network. The installation features:

The ZeeVee Zyper4K platform delivered uncompressed 4K video distribution across 100+ fibre endpoints, ensuring pixel-perfect reproduction with just 100 microseconds of latency. The SDVoE-based system provides the flexibility to route any source to any display instantly through standard Ethernet switching.

Seamless scalability was achieved through ZeeVee’s self-discovery technology, allowing new sources and displays to be added without replacing expensive infrastructure. The system integrates with Green Hippo media servers, Brightsign players, and PTZ cameras, all managed through AMX control systems.

True HDR10+ support across the entire signal chain ensures Samsung’s latest display technologies—including ‘The Wall’ LED displays and 8K screens—showcase content exactly as intended, from cinema screenings to product demonstrations.

Results

The deployment has established Samsung KX as a benchmark for experiential retail, winning the ‘Best Retail/DOOH Project’ at the AV Technology Europe Awards 2020. The space now hosts diverse events daily—from yoga sessions to e-gaming tournaments—with staff able to reconfigure the entire AV infrastructure in minutes rather than hours.
