    The RMC-5000 rack mount chassis provides up to sixteen available slots for any FOM series fiber optic module card. The FOM cards are typically installed from the rear of the chassis, providing electrical and fiber optic connections at the rear of the chassis. A front panel window allows viewing of status leds on each installed card indicating power supply status, fiber optic link status, signal line status, and control or configuration information, depending on the particular card. The chassis backplane allows various support modules to be installed, allowing for future expansion and control options. No active components are an integral part of the chassis backplane, providing high reliability and minimal maintenance issues.

  • Fiberplex PSM-5000 Power Supply For RMC-5000

    The PSM-5000 power supply module is designed to be inserted into the RMC- 5000 rack mount chassis. The module provides an operating voltage through the chassis backplane to power up to sixteen fiber optic module cards. Each rack mount chassis is shipped with one power supply module.

    For additional reliabilty and security, a second PSM-5000 may also be added for power redundancy. If the first PSM-5000 fails, the second PSM-5000 will take over the entire load and carry on normally. Additionally, if one PSM fails, an onboard alarm will sound. An PWR LED indicates that the +24VDC output voltage is present, and that the module is operating properly.

    The FOM-5600 provides complete electrical isolation for 4-wire S/T-Interface ISDN communications. The unit has four channels that are independent of each other with two switches each that allow users to select between different ISDN modes and interfaces.

    The unit can be used in areas of high electrical noise or in and out of RF shielded enclosures. The fiber optic cable is not susceptible to interference caused by impulse noise, crosstalk, or EMI. The potential problem of creating ground loops or ground offsets is also eliminated because signal ground is not carried over the fiber. The unit enhances privacy of communications because fiber can not be tapped without being detected and does not radiate any emissions.
